Yeah highlighting the national security weaknesses was bullshit, but so is extraditing a man over a lover's spat.
After a week, they have still only released less than 1/250 of the documents. I can only assume it is due to waiting until these assault charges are settled.
Ryan: The Gov't isn't some magical ruling class ordained by God on high, they're citizens and we pay their salaries. If the government exists to protect the government, something has gone off the rails.

I understand why people are scared. The nature of this could potentially bring that system to it's knees. But after the last five congresses, I'm about ready for a drastic change.
Where did I say everyone else should be given the same fate by being ignorant? I was fine with what WikiLeaks was releasing until they released our "weak points". You ever hear the saying, "Loose lips sink ships"? I didn't need to know that information. None of us did. There is absolutely no good that results with that informatoin being released. How the hell does that keep the goverment honest? And you don't think the government isn't already on its toes with all of the recent "dry runs" and attempted terrorist attacks? We'll just have to agree to disagree, but there is some information that just doesn't need to be shared. That's all I'm saying.Quote:

Also, again, the only point in releasing that cable is WL is trying to get Uncle Sam to say uncle.

Who's to say they weren't already doing that? You don't know. None of us do. It's possible that with the release of this information, a bigger strain has been placed on resources specifically used for defense, thus making other areas vulnerable. And believe me, this outrage and the way they're going after Wikileaks has everything to do with it being politically damaging and fuck-all to do with it "putting the troops in danger." Don't buy that horseshit. I do think it's important to have covert operations, but none of this info is about that kind of shit at all, it's baby bullshit, gossip, fudging of numbers in the war, shit that makes the people in charge look bad. There has yet to be an incident where American troops have been attacked because of Wikileaks.
