Strange Journey is indeed compelling; God of War III is pretty fucking cool, if a little stale; FFXIII is beautiful, but I'm so tired of these half-baked, melodramatic characters that spout cliche after cliche; Just Cause 2 I personally did not care for; Infinite Space is a great game but technically under par, even for a DS game; finally, Metro 2033 is eerie but with some fundamental problems--worth your time, though.

Resonance of Fate is probably not better than everything on that list, just most of them. A JRPG with an actual new battle system, and a cool storytelling style, hampered only by the few conventions it can't seem to shake off. Such a turn around for the dev of the shitstorm known as Star Ocean 4.
