Oh, so your plan was even worse than buying the old version a month before the new version comes out.

I picked up WiiSpeak for $7.49 from Target just in case there is ever a reason to have one, and Mrs. Yoshi asked for Deadly Premonition after listening to the 198X podcast talk it up. I'm still irritated that DP is region locked. I'd have to play the profile swapping game and play outside my cave to both play and get achievements in it.
