April 2010 Winner: Super Street Fighter IV
I was expecting either this or Splinter Cell Conviction to win, but I didn't exactly expect such a blowout. Ketsui coming in second was a surprise, too.

May was completely packed with games. It's going to go down in history as one of the best months ever for the industry. If you enjoy any type of action game, there was something this month for you. From shooters to shmups to platformers to open-world games to arcade racers, there was something for everyone. Notable absences are many and include Skate 3, What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord!? Part 2, UFC Undisputed 2010, Rocket Knight, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak, and the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (which is really good! I swear!). Alpha Protocol is going on next month's poll since the official release date in North America is June 1. Ignore that is available on Steam already, citizen.

In the end, I think it's going to come down to either Red Dead Redemption or Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's going to be interesting to see how Rockstar's latest open-world game compares to Nintendo's latest iconic platformer in the polls. I can't think of two games that could be more unlike each other.

Last poll omitted 3D Dot Game Heroes, which is a big enough fuckup to warrant a new poll. Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype got cut to make way for it, since I doubt anyone will select it over DeathSmiles IIX

Lost Planet 2 for me. My favorite pure action game in years and its got full 4 player campaign co-op to boot. Ill take LP2's highly skill based online multiplayer over what Ive played of Reach and definately over that horseshit that is RDR's multiplayer. Plus an addictive customizable unlock system (online mech battles dont hurt either) puts it over the top. Lots o content here, but its definately not a game for everyone.

It really was an amazing month and Spring in general. 2010 is easily one of the best gaming years of all time already.

At least it's less screw up ;)

RDR for me. No matter what anyone says about the GTA games, this one is different.

I called GTA IV out about how much it sucked back when it was released. RDR is SO much better than that POS. The combat isn't a chore, and the fact that horses control better than cars says A LOT about how bad GTA IV really is. Rockstar seems to finally be realizing just how archaic the GTA series has become, and they've taken great steps to revitalize a stagnant formula with RDR.

I'm sure Mario Galaxy 2 is awesome, but I haven't played it yet, so RDR is my GOTY. 3D Dot Game Heroes is fun, but it's not GOTY material.

Too many games I haven't been able to play yet, so no voting for me. So far I have had the most fun with S/S but I bet RDR is going to be my choice baed on the beginning that I have played.

I've never been able to keep my interest in a GTA game long enough to finish one. I will finish RDR, it is so much better than any of the GTA games.

I wish I didn't buy s/s and got RDR instead.

RDR isn't GTA IV. It's got an actual story with a main character that doesn't suck.

Really, it's a much better game than the GTAs, and being open world isn't really why. It's not the type of game you cause chaos in - it's the type you ride around and explore and hunt and help people out in.
