Dude, I live in New Jersey, just like you (last I checked, anyway) and I already pointed out we don't really even have hipsters here like New York has hipsters. It's not like I'm singling out California out of inexperience. I just don't really see it elsewhere, or at least when I do I don't call them hipsters.
I'm not talking about a major cultural divide, but there are totally differences in the way people talk, dress, act, what they laugh at, what kind of music they listen to, etc when you travel around the country. I shouldn't have to point that out. Philly is different than New York. Jersey is different than New York. Boston is different than New York. They might have a lot in common but there are differences.
