By complete accident, I stumbled upon a great YouTube series from a user named BigBangBlitz. He chronicles, in video form, 20 "criminally overlooked games" as he puts it. Since some of the ones I have played I really, really like and/or are really important to gaming history, I'm very interested in tracking down the rest of these. Give them a watch; you might learn something.

I don't know about Cyborg Justice, but Red Zone is a great game once you get past the insane learning curve. Kudos for Osman, Outfoxies, and Edward Randy getting mentioned!

A lot of those are great picks. I don't get the love for Clash at Demonhead, though. And I remember Cyborg Justice being mediocre. I guess I should try them again some time.

That list is missing Skyblazer (Super NES).

Gun Nac is a nice looking 8-bit Compile shooter, just way too easy. Frankly I see nothing special about Best of the Best or Cyborg.

Violent Storm all lookin' like a Cadillacs and Dinosaurs minus both Cadillacs and dinosaurs. I like that a dog just walks by, unnoticed.
Nice touch with the T2 steel mill level and the boss with Power Loader arms, haha.
Downtown Special emulated like shiiiiiiit back in college, was hoping that maybe got better? Maybe the game's just like that, there's a pretty hefty amount going on screen at any given time. I like the auto-partner idea, it just bogged things way down.

It's the Konami beat 'em up that feels like a Capcom one (a good thing, IMO).

Bit beat-em-up heavy.
'Walk in a perfectly straight line to the right and punch things too many times' is one genre that really didn't know when to stop, or at least deviate a little. I'm sure the games in the list did it damn well, but picking possibly the most samey over-saturated game design blueprint that gaming has possibly ever seen and not scoring a hit off of it doesn't really earn my sympathy.

I was sad because I hadn't played most of these games, until CYBORG JUSTICE popped up. I remember really loving that game, stealing enemy robots arms to adjust your shit was rad.

I was wondering why I didn't know about it, that explains it. Lawsuit? They borrowed everything right down to the fonts and the way unused items flip out of your hand at the end of a stage.
Outfoxies looks like a huge pain in the ass with that camera, but I bet it would be huge fun on XBLA/DS with a fixed view and 8 players... OR Castlevania HD's setup...
