Medal of Honor

This game is coming out on Oct 12th (PC, 360, PS3). Its campaign is made by an EA team (Danger Close?) and the multiplayer is made by the Battlefield guys at DICE. The preview videos of the game look very impressive. This MOH seems to have more realistic tone and not as arcadey and fantastical like the COD stuff. Suppressive fire is a part of the MOH gameplay for one. The campaign vids show this tone as well. COD is getting pretty ridiculous with its arcadey stuff lately (RC cars).

Also dont forget that with purchasers of the first run of MOH you get a Beta invitation to the upcoming Battlefield 3 (the official Battlefield series, NOT the Bad Company spinoff). The BF3 beta says its due out within 12 months from the release of MOH.

I played the beta and it wasnt all that great but I think it truely was a Beta - not a demo like these other console betas claim. The change list from the beta is huge and the graphics look much improved - it looks like a different game. A form of Bad Company 2's rush is in the game it seems with other objective modes too. The objective mode (combat mission) in the beta was really good. You had to go thru stages of the map completing objectives with a limited number of spawns.

We'll see how it turns out - im buying. In DICE I trust.

In the attached pic its a little surreal seeing the Battlefield 3 logo on the box for MOH. Been a long time coming for BF3.

I'm going to try it out on the PC. Still retarded that they switched the Taliban to "Opposing Force" but whatever. People will bitch about anything.

Yeah really. Counter Strike has been out for like 12 years. Wheres the controversy over that? Still its surprising the game is coming out in this day and age protestors. I think I remember at least 1 or 2 games based on Iraq and Afghanistan being cancelled in the past.

Certainly looks pretty. I might try it out next year.

To play Devil's Advocate, I think it's equally retarded that some clamor the name change is 'censorship' and 'unconstitutional' - it would be if the US government mandated it. That EA, the dude who pays the bills, wants the change to avoid heat, and the developer complies, is simply Doing Business. In all honesty, it doesn't mean a damn difference either way, it's still Dudes Shooting Dudes 2010 Edition.

It isn't unconstitutional but it is censorship.

"Opposing Force" just sounds so blase. It's one step away from calling the teams GOOD GUYS vs. BAD GUYS.

Should have gone with "Insurgents", it's non-specific but still conveys the same general image.

I do believe the Army threatened to pull their official support of the game, which is damaging when your main claim to fame is that this is a more legit piece of pro war propaganda than the other game. So, really, it's not as cut and dry as you claim.

This game is looking great. I'm kinda shocked.
