It's a different thing. Fan Remix is closer to Sonic 4 in concept. HD is actually pretty impressive in its own right if you know how hard it is to translate low res pixel art to HD and still preserve the original look and feel.

That's fair. HD is what it advertises itself to be I suppose. Given the choice, I'm still going for Fan Remix every time.
I like both honestly.
That's silly. HD is meant to be an ebhanced version of Sonic 2, and saying you'd take that over (or under) the Genesis every time makes sense.
But Fan Remix is just a different game with some of the same level elements. It's not meant to replace Sonic 2 (HD or original).
They're both free. Given a choice, tell the person offering to shut the hell up and download both.

The HD project looks siiiiiiiick. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
HD one looks nice, but I'm not really excited about it or anything.
Remix is on a whole different level.
Sonic 2 HD is indeed a translation, not a reproduction. The artwork is remade in HD according to the developers' interpretation.. which may or may not match my own. Even in that teaser video, the art looks wrong. I'm more interested in Fan Remix-- they have a better idea of what made 2D Sonic entertaining than the team behind Sonic 4, but they aren't so arrogant to believe that they have the resources and expertise to remake and 'preserve' Sonic 2.
I hope Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online reproduces the artwork in HD the way that I expect it to-- by replacing low res art with hi-res original art when available, and upscaling original art/sprites when it isn't. I don't think anything in the game needs to be redrawn.. at least nowhere near the extent of Super Turbo HD Remix.
