September 2010 Winner: Halo: Reach
Philistines.
This month was incredibly packed on both the retail and the downloadable fronts. As such, I've had to make some hard choices on what to leave out, and some really big games didn't make the cut. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a major release, but TNL seems to (rightfully) be less than impressed with it, so I'm leaving it off since there's no way it's going to have a chance of winning. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was cut for the same reason. DJ Hero 2, Comic Jumper, Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Costume Quest, and Arcania: Gothic 4 (sorry dakidski) all failed to make the cut as well. I admit that I'm allowing some of my bias to creep into the selection with Pinball FX2, but it's my poll so fuck you.
I'm torn between Fallout: New Vegas and Pinball FX 2. I really, really want to like the former but Obsidian's typical lack of QA makes it very difficult. It'll be a fantastic game in a few months, but not something I really want to play right now. Pinball FX 2, despite a few scoring quirks in some of the tables (multipliers are way too difficult to get and some of the activities are far too difficult for the points they provide), is pretty much the best original pinball video game since Pro Pinball: Timeshock.
