I'd much rather do that than have to shake a controller to get my character to move in a 2D platformer.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
Joust downlaods "content" daily through the waggling of his "controller"
wtf mods at least merge the other shit after my thread.
first you hypocritical dickheads leave offtopic shit going on for days, yet merge new topics right after they are posted into trashbin combined threads for youtube videos
seriously fuck you chux or whoever did both of these
You're one of those people who have no problem turning a blind eye to something, if its something you want. If you can not see what's going on in the industry then I don't know what to tell you. I love how none of you bring a real counter argument, or try to show a positive change in the industry in regards to DLC, instead you just throw stupid insults. Outside of Valve how many companies are providing free updates that add content? The majority of publishers are giving us less and charging us more. Hell Bbobb tried to site Capcom as an example but outside of one game they're becoming just as bad as EA.
Where are companies giving you less when you buy new? I think it's pretty safe to say that, so far, DLC is truly on top of the full retail package. I understand your fear that it may change, but that has not occurred to people who buy new copies yet. What has happened is that some add-ons have been poorly priced for what they are, and Castlevania HD is the poster child.
If by "turning a blind eye" you mean ignoring it and not buying it, then you nailed it. I bought two avatar items, one GoW2 DLC pack (the big, all-inclusive one), and the first four(?) Borderlands expansions when they were like $2 each on Steam. That is the extent of my DLC support by the ridiculous definition used in this thread where avatar items are DLC but no one has mentioned XBLA games, for example. I'm clearly a monger.
You white-knighting for Steam here? Nobody is saying they're a Bad Guy.
Selling a $50 retail game for $4 beats getting it pirated, no doubt. Still doesn't amount to much in terms of the developer funding new projects, as it is not a particularly sustainable (or ideal) revenue stream.
Maybe if you'd have only bought more IG-88 shit at the avatar store, Lucasarts would still have half the staff it did a year ago...
