On a serious note, from the first two hours of this game it's amazing. The combat is nice, quick, and decently engaging. The characters are entirely likeable, particularly the main character who is probably the most enjoyable main character in a JRPG in years. And everything I hear is that the game gets even better as it goes on. If you have a DS and want a JRPG to play, this seems like the best one available.

Compass's brain is just rapidly deteriorating. Nothing out of the norms here.

Back on the game, it gets really good once you hit Chapter's 3 or 4'ish (apparently). I'm close to beating Chapter 2 on both realities, so I should see how much better it gets from that point.

And so far, it's really good. Stocke is a great character, not a wimp or useless. I like eet.

I'll let you know when I find the Star Ocean franchise even marginally acceptable. Then maybe we can go to check-ups together.

You make it sound like I enjoy the series far more than I actually do (now), but that's okay. I'll roll with the f-chan punches (but to be fair, I did like 4's combat, so you can have that).

Back on gaming talk, I've been pretty busy so I only reached Chapter 3 of both Alternate and Standard Histories. How about you guys?

i kept trying to play it right before bed time and only made it 10 minutes at a time. so i went back to Dragon Quest VI. It's a much better bed time game. It seems like you actually have to pay attention in Radiant Historia.

FYI, Atlus has second print coming in the middle of April. The first run was pretty much gone in two weeks.

That's good to hear, it's a really great game (and perhaps my favourite RPG on the DS).

I'm at Chapter 6, so I'm nearing the end, but I went back to other chapters to do all the side-quests. Sidequests in a time-travelling game are pretty awesome, because I technically can't really miss anything.

I've got to say that difficulty-wise, the game is pretty fair. You don't get an abundance of money, so you have to plan out your equipment. That and the game spikes considerably in difficulty at Chapter 4, but it calms down afterwards.
