The game is being developed by the same internal team responsible for both Super Mario Galaxy and last year's stupidly brilliant sequel.

Sign me up for 64 + Galaxy.

This is awesome. I'd rather see more wide open areas in place of the planetoids, but the planetoids would be a great fit for 3D. The Tanooki suit doesn't seem well suited for planetoids so I'm betting on the former.

EDIT: With the quotes above, plus his "there's no smoke without fire." quote about the new console, I'm really liking Miyamoto's no-bullshit attitude lately.

As long as it is more like 64. I really didn't care for the small planet areas of Galaxy. I know I'm in the minority there though.

Yep. Plus Nintendo pulls their head out of their ass every other generation, so we're due too.

Ok, now this just might sell me a 3DS. I knew it was only a matter of time.

I don't think you are. Galaxy was simply good enough that I didn't feel justified in complaining about it, even if open levels were my preference. I'm willing to bet a lot of people feel that way and that's why there isn't any backlash against it.
