How many of those sales can also be attributed to a better model of the Xbox 360?
I wonder how many of those Kinects that were sold, were being bought with the 4GB Kinect package?

It's not which makes it all the more disappointing.
I'm not gonna lie though, for the longest time all I had was an Xbox 360 and mainly used that for gaming and Netflix (along with some Youtube & web browsing when my PC was down) so in some ways having an Xbox that did more than gaming was an advantage because it was convenient and picked up the slack. But this is kind of just going too far into the other direction given how a lot of tech products are doing more than one thing too like Blu-Ray players with Netflix/apps, Smart tv's, other competing consoles etc. so there's going to be further homogenization with these systems.
I'm also incredibly curious as to what Xbox Live in the next gen will offer with it's additional non-gaming services. Like it's probably going to be more expensive for Live but they might pack in more TEE VEE CONTENT! and such to try to compete with Playstation Plus and hopefully more perks for gamers.
That is exactly what I feared with the introduction of all the "non-gaming" related applications over the last several years. The gaming industry has evolved (is evolving) into some super-home-entertainment-social-hub-of-dreams. I just want video games (physical media, preferably) to play in a room all by my lonesome. It's my way of escaping. It's my life long hobby. In a lot of ways, I wish the industry had never taken off like it did all those years ago...
Like I always say: I want to play video games alone, in the dark, while I'm crying.
Everything else is a passing fad.
I don't mind all the non gaming announcements. Hell, some are pretty cool. My wife uses the 360 for everything but gaming. So I can definetly understand why they want that market. But as a game machine? I'm pretty sad so far.
Edit. Turn on your Xbox and look at your friends lists. It's ridiculous how many people are not using the 360 for games right now. No wonder Microsoft is pushing everything else but games so hard. It's our fault.
I don't really have a need to watch a trailer for a movie while watching a movie.
Yeah I see this a lot too but percentage wise I personally do more gaming than Netflix or other apps.
If I'm using Netflix, online play, apps, or whatever on Xbox it's probably because I'm paying to have to use it under the Gold "benefits" (damn you Microsoft) so I might as well use it on Xbox until Live runs out and then I'll just switch to it on PS3.
Shinobi: what about looking up a Dark Souls wiki while playing a next-gen Dark Souls or something like that, assuming "snap mode" works that way.
I use the HBO Go app on the 360, it's good stuff.
That is actually a pretty good point.
Everybody has a smart phone nowadays. We're overconvenient as it is.
You can keep yer WebTV.
