Ninja Spirit

This game usually gets listed in TG16 threads but I feel it's worthy of its own thread.

I love Ninja Spirit. The atmosphere and ultra-jumpy gameplay is fantastic. It kind of reminds me of Legend of Kage and Demon Sword except Ninja Spirit is much much better.

Irem did kick ass back then between this game and R-Type. I assume the arcade version of Ninja Spirit is relatively rare since I only got to play it once and I never saw it again. The Turbo port was excellent and is one of the best games on the system.

Im also not afraid to admit that ive had demon sword since its release and love it too, although it does suck. :)

I love Demon Sword too. Taito needs to resurrect some of their old franchises.

I also LOVED Ninja Spirit!!
Its the best of the Ninja\Samurai genre by far (Shadow Dancer being its closest comp), great play control, amazing graphics (moreso back then), a really cool weapons system (I love games that give you everything right away, and force you to master each weapon in order to advance in the game). My favorite part is (of course) the final level before the last boss, where you have to fall through a continuos sea of enemies without getting hit...that sh!t was genius...too bad the last boss was just as easy as the first.

What was the name of that caveman character Irem had...i've been agonizin over that for the past few minutes...it was'nt Toki?? Or was it a construction worker???

Ninja Spirit is a great example of the beauty and simplicity of 2D gaming. The game does Crounching Tiger better than that game will ever hope to.

Keith is a decent game, I'd like it much more if it wasn't for the blind jumps...

I wonder what other classics Irem made and never got recognition for?? R-type is pretty much there only real success..that I can recall.
