Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality are partnering for a second XBLA/PSN game, in addition to Sine Mora. Announced at a Grasshopper Manufacture event during Gamescom, Black Knight Sword is a side-scrolling platform action game that takes place in a sort of puppet play.
The scrolling is made to look like the character is actually standing in place, and the background elements are constantly shuffled and replaced as if on a stage.
In the above video, taken by Gamer365, Akira Yamaoka introduces the game. It's like you're at the GHM/Digital Reality party yourself!
In look and concept, it is a first-gen Saturn game.

You guys are crazy, the visual style for this is pretty neat. Reminds me of that awesome Flipside mod for HL2 from a few years back.
Not seeing anything interesting in the gameplay, but it's also clearly the tutorial being shows so it's hard to make a judgement there.

The visuals are only part of the negativity! I'm trying to think of a reasonably well-known Japanese developer that I would trust less than Grasshopper at making a 2D action game.

I think this looks pretty interesting, too. And I trust Grasshopper. More on their merits as a quirky, interesting developer than what I know of their capabilities with 2D. The 8-bit STG in No More Heroes was pretty cute. I know that's not the same thing, but I think it looks pretty sick. :)
