Not everything needs be private all the time, but there has to at least be an option for anonymity to protect people from overbearing governments and the like.
It's not all silly nonsense about trannies who want to work for homophobic bigots.
The tranny thing is just an extreme but easy to imagine example. People currently do not hire people they consider to be sexual deviants. So that is a tangible example.
Ultimately this will put minorities at a greater disadvantage. It will be harder for people with less than accepted backgrounds to talk and communicate.
Say shit gets bad in 50 years. With stuff like this in place, it will be harder for any kind of counter movement (be it hostile or peaceful) to gain momentum.
Think of the foreign protests that have been organized via twitter. Those governments will be able to connect every participant to a real name with a system as proposed in the first post.
They already can, for fucks sake.

A band we played with a little while back came down from Canada. It's ridiculously difficult/expensive as a band to cross the border in any sort of legit fashion so everyone always just says shit like, ''no we just brought stuff to jam'' and whatnot. So these guys were all, ''No man, we don't even play in a band'' and the border guard straight up pulled up their facebook accounts right then and there. I think they even had access to 'private' accounts, some security act gave them the right. I'm not sure how they ended up getting around it.Quote:
