Yeah, you may be right. But like you said, that's not even a good fit, because that is designed to suppress government opposition not to help private corporations. If anything it hinders them.

China's approach to IP enforcement is certainly as opposite from ours as you can get.
Hey, we're going to talk about this on Sunday for the next podcast. I think the TNL Podcast 5 news link when it comes up will have the details to contact the podcast if you want to share your opinions.
The means is Communist. The ends do not justify a "Great Firewall of China" means in this case.
And... the SOPA & PIPA blacklisting system could be used to quash dissent or block certain news sites that don't fall in goose-step with the state mainstream media- just like China. I seriously doubt that the people behind these bills don't lick their lips in power hunger at the thought of having a GFOC at their disposal. If they get that ability, they could very well use it for repression of free speech.
I think SOPA & PIPA may be a power grab. The related talk about protecting IP could be a pretense. ISPs would be required to micro-monitor all of their users' internet traffic, so it's a question of privacy.
I think it's companies like the RIAA putting too much money into congressperson's pockets.
I just want to say the TNL podcasts suck. That's how me and my nerdiest of nerdy friends sound when we've had too much to drink.
I think you meant to say that Sleeve sucks.
Horrible idea. I actually have to write an Essay about this next week.
