Protip: :(
I NEVER liked Gamepro, but it was the only mag I could get Master System game cheats out of so I would buy it every now and again.
I'm sad to see it go though. I LIKE print mags. I DON'T LIKE that the only ones left that don't cost $10 an issue are run by Best Buy and Gamestop.
Somebody's always turning 11, so there was always an audience for Gamepro.
Or Mzo.
Game magazines don't work anymore, unless they are used to shill for a retailer (in essence being one giant ad) or as a way for Dave Halverson to not pay his writers.
They were always good for their strategy guides and cheat sections back when that kind of information wasn't readily available on the Internet.
Sad news for me because Gamepro was the first mag I ever bought (with MK 1 on the cover), but pretty much an inevitability given the nature of print nowadays. Very surprised to see that the site will be gone too.
That's sad news. The magazine honestly didn't do anything for me as an adult, but I really liked reading it when I was a kid.
I used to read GamePro as a kid when I didn't know any better. I've since gone back and read some of those issues and they are SO BAD, but I find the same is true for a lot of game publications back then. It was wild west times when you didn't need a lot of writing experience to get in.
I will say that GamePro made a lot of strides toward improving in recent years, but it was too late. The era of the print mag had ended.
