Astro Port's new shooter Satazius is now out on Steam for $6, courtesy of Capcom & Nyu Media.
GamersGate also has it but their version has SecuROM PA with a 5-activation limit (yep, there's a paul.dll in the directory and you are given a product key). I uninstalled this version and went to Steam. Steam's download has NO SecuROM. If you saw any reference to SecuROM on the Steam page, that was a goof.
Satazius has some tributes to a lot of shooters, with an intro not unlike the TF4 one. When starting a game you pick from different weapons: a main shot, two subweapons, and a charge shot (bomb). The gameplay has a lot of similarities to Gradius (there's even a speed zone but not quite as nasty as Konami's ones- you also have a shield but it goes down in 1 hit), only you toggle between your two subweapons similar to TF. After a stage you can reselect the weapon loadout.
Stars in the level give you bonus points if you hold onto them. If you get all 10, the end-stage bonus is doubled.
That's not me playing, but here's a vid of the trial version on Insane difficulty (it must be unlocked, since you can only choose Easy or Normal at first).

I bought this and haven't played much yet, but just an FYI, there's no DRM at all in the Steam version. You can run it without Steam running. Nice.

Great. While Steamworks DRM has never given me any problems (unlike what people say about Origin), I'm glad they didn't add any. Zero DRM is best.
Looks like Steam's version is no different from the disc one, except for costing around $20 less.
I wish I knew why GG has SecuROM 8 on their version.
