Thats a good price? I sold my boxed duo r for $200 two years ago. I guess shit has gone up quite a bit since then.
I once sold the old Frankenstein TG16+CD monstrosity (no games) for over $500 on eBay.
I wish I'd been posting when you sold your Duo R. I would have gladly taken it off your hands.
I didn't know that. That's a cool little fact. I'm really looking forward to playing these Master System games!
Yeah, I think prices must have gone up. The shipping prices alone were harsh. I couldn't find one with a shipping price less than $75. I found a few that were "free shipping" but they wanted like $1,000+ :/ Most of the ones I saw were around $250-300 + shipping though.
SSJN: don't forget that the system he bought is modded. I couldn't buy a Duo R and mod it myself for that price.
Good deal on the SMS, the systems have been creeping up in price lately. Thankfully the games are still cheap for the most part. When you look for games, remember that Euro region SMS games work with the system as well, as the system had a much longer life in Europe. I love the SMS version of Sonic Chaos.
I may have to dig mine out, sweet Nomi was nice enough to give it to me at a time when I couldn't have afforded one, but all I really played on it was Wonderboy in Monster Land and the Sonic games.
By the way, Genesis controllers work on the Master System. There are a few games like Monster Land that are not compatible, so it's good that you got some original controllers. I don't have a real SMS controller so I snipped a wire on a 6 button Genny pad to use with it.
Yeah, the Genesis version became Last Battle in the US. Just one of those things... but there are some great games you will really enjoy on the SMS. Rambo was actually really fun too as mentioned... it's also on the Wii Virtual Console but as the European version which didn't have the license.
Here is an excellent thread we had about the SMS a few years back, and Zeed's first post is probably the best summary of SMS games that are still playable today on the net. I think I'm going to go reread it.
It's funny now that I think about it, back in the day I wanted a Master System for the Sega arcade ports, but these days I can't really stand them since they don't hold up. Now I love a ton of games that my 9 year old self had never heard of, and probably wouldn't have given a chance if I had.
There are a lot of 'same name, different game' shenanigans going on with SMS/Genesis games. It's like NES and Gameboy.
Castle of Illusion and Ghouls'n'Ghosts are two of my favs, since they're good on both platforms, but different enough to justify playing through both versions.
