Megaman 2 Wily's Revenge (GB) - Was something to play while I was away and was fun. I assume to save space they only have 6 actual levels in the game. Cutman, Iceman, Fireman, Elecman followed by Wily 1 which gives you another 5 robot masters to fight as your boss rush and give you the next abilities (Quickman, Flashman, Bubbleman, Heatman, Enkerman) which leads to a really long final Wily stage and a very easy Wily. Levels are not only a little too long in this game, but the checkpoints are horribly placed. Every difficult part's last checkpoint is a lot of easier parts to slog through after you've mastered just to try and learn the new part.
Definitely not one of the best Megaman's, but off the virtual console on 3DS it's not a bad one to have around. Image about sums it up.
Guild Wars 2 (PC)-
Never technically finished, but I just got done doing the final dungeon of the game and it was amazing and hard as hell! I'll never love another MMO like this one. Game of 2012 and beyond for me! Leveling up a Warrior now for WvW.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- FINALLY finished it. Unexpectedly fun game. Borrowed it from a friend upon his recommendation, and instantly took a liking to it. Cheap last boss, though. I guess the final fight is what you make of it.
Yeah, Wolverine was totally decent, if by the numbers. That healing effect is creepy, though.
#2) Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: I'm not particularly nostalgic for the original, a pretty whatever SMB knock-off with good music, and I was equally indifferent to the DS game, but this is totally good. It doesn't seem to have much in common with the old games, but that's probably for the best. Really nice looking, novel gameplay twist... there's some occasionally frustrating moments, and it's pretty short, but overall I'd recommend it. Good to see Kickstarter projects coming through and shaping up well.
Now back to Binary Domain.
Time I give this a try. I buy too many games and play through too few!
1. God of War (PS3 Port) - I've never played it before this. Honest! I can see why this series is so popular. It pretty much hits the ground running and then never stops.
Unless there's a block puzzle.
...or a fucking spinning spike pillar to climb.
The aforementioned spike pillar and the final-final boss were odd difficulty spikes in an otherwise not-so-difficult game. The amount of cursing I did during the seemingly randomly beatable final boss form is a good example of why I probably won't bother trying the next difficulty up.
Man, those gods are jerks!
They won't be jerks for long if you play the other games.
1. Thirty Flights of Loving - PC
I really enjoyed Gravity Bone and was under the impression this was a sequel. Certainly didn't feel like it though. It was somehow even shorter. Like 15 minutes. "This seems more like a GB prototype than any sequel...," I thought. Checked the dev commentary mode and hey, what do you know, that's precisely what it is.
1. Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit (XBLA, 400/400)
This was pretty fun. It's not perfect but it's not bad at all, as some of the review outlets would have you believe (IGN/Gamespot/Gametrailers). It looks nice, I thought the music was really good, and aside from it being a bit of a pain to shoot while you jump (it's actually never really necessary to do so), it controlled pretty well. I chuckled quite a few times, but don't expect great writing here. 7/10.
Lets see if I can actually keep track this year.
1 - Ratchet and Clank 1 via PS3 collection
Dear god this game was painful. The RPG elements of later Ratchet games didn't exist and GIGANTIC gaps between checkpoints with no sign if you've been by one or not just makes it a pain to play. There's a platinum for this one but fuck playing through it multiple times for that, no idea how I bothered to 100% it back in the day.
2 - Ratchet and Clank 2 via PS3 collection
Now this is much improved. The leveling of the weapons is a large part of what makes the Ratchet games fun and this one was damned fun to play again. I did Platinum Trophy this one.
3 - Lego Lord of the Rings PC
Good stuff, I do enjoy the Lego games. They're nothing amazing but they are fun for what they are. Went all out and 100%ed the game though I have no idea why I did. OCD I guess. Great stuff.
