War Pact: Pile of Shame 2013

It's been a while since we've had one of these threads active, but I need some motivation to catch up before this generation is finally euthanized. Here is what I am up against from a console and PSP (the Vita is helping me cheat that generational change) perspective this year:

I'm going to hide behind the PC's transparent generations and not even go there.

One thing that becomes apparent in glancing at this list is that I don't finish Japanese games or FPS. I have a sneaking suspicion that if I looked through the last two years' worth of completion threads, this would largely be true as well. Sooner or later I'll learn to stop buying them. Until then, I'm going to stubbornly go after these. Yes, I know I am screwed. Next time you see a sales thread, you'll know which ones I gave up on.

Do I dare list my pile o' shame? It would be longer than a Gohron and IP post put together.

I like the idea of breaking these up by system.

I'm busy enough cutting through my DS backlog. I got 15 games I've gotta finish on that thing alone.

I've also vowed not to buy a PS3 until I finish Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne on the PS2.

Mine will be so gross, I don't even want to know. But I'll do it later because lists are exciting.

I have such a huge list because I'll play a single-player game and get whatever I need out of it without finishing it, and then go back to one my "endless" games and dump double the amount of time into it. Right now I'm leveling six or seven characters in Tera and two in Vindictus instead of, say, working on TWEWY.

I've been putting things into my backloggery for like a week now. It's pretty scary.

Backloggery, I like that. I've been keeping an excel spreadsheet for the same purpose but having an active website to track that stuff doesn't hurt. Because I have a retro games website my backlog for older systems is huge since I also review them. I think for the purpose of this war pact I'll limit my list to just current and last gen, although it doesn't make it any less embarrrassing.

Back when I was in college I once had the foolish idea that I would try and complete every domestic PS One rpg released in the US. I made a good amount of headway in a 2 year span but playing through utter dog shit like Beyond the Beyond, Guardian's Crusade, and King's Field eventually broke me.

Beyond the Beyond's reputation is not entirely deserved. It's not that bad. I'd much rather play that than jerk favorites Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms 2, Arc the Lad 1, or Thousand Arms.

Camelot later made the equally generic Golden Sun and the same motherfuckers loling at BtB ate it up. What gives?

I remember trying to play Golden Sun and it was not a good time. That's the only thing I remember about it.
