Played the first couple of missions in the single player game. The story is very nicely framed by the nameless main character (you, I suppose) reading through a necronomicon-style book that holds the promise of a means to escape your current imprisonment. The production values are really nice.
So far I've only killed smaller monsters. Their corpses can be converted into either health or materials. Your different forms of attack come directly from these materials. You can carry up to 6 in two quick menus and switch on the fly between them. There is a bit of delay when switching to some forms so you can't just spam them. As examples, you can use a rock to make a defensive shield, an axe blade to summon an axe, blood to uh, machine gun blood at an enemy (at the expense of your health) etc. Controls are very reminiscent of monhun. It feels like it's somewhere in the middle between monhun as the slow, lower end and GEB at the fast action end.
I hven't even looked at the multi game since the sp is actually pretty well done and interesting. I wonder how far the demo goes?
