It's quite mutual.
Yeah the Sega/Sonic stuff in particular seems like a good deal provided they play out well enough.
Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 definitely are the safest bet due to the way they've been set up as partnerships with Nintendo so those are good notches under Nintendo's belt. The Rayman/Deus Ex stuff is still kind of sad to see though since it's been indicative of 3rd party studios kind of just jumping ship on a struggling platform to try to make up for perhaps the costs of development towards the Wii U versions of those games.
It would be cool of Wii U got the first Bayonetta too as some sort of special edition just to have the franchise be totally represented on that platform. They also have Custom Robo to play towards the mech crowd.
A new Wave Race is long overdue. Excite Bike too. EB64 was awesome.
They bought Monolith in 2007. I think that's their last acquisition. They seem to prefer working with studios instead of outright buying them now adays. Though in 2000 they opened up a couple new studios, and I do believe they're building a new dev house building in Kyoto.
I really do wish they would revist some older IPs. IMHO if the last release of a game in a series was in the 80s or early 90s at this point releasing a new entry in it is like a new IP. I've said it before but I'd kill for a Star Tropics revival, or some other forgot NES/Famicom series. I thought bringing back Punch Out on the Wii was an amazing idea, and the game was fantastic. It's a shame we didn't get a new F-Zero but nobody bought it when it was released, Nintendo's said they didn't think people wanted any more cause sales were shit.
While I think the internet would hate it, I'd love to see Platinum get bought by Nintendo. I think they fill a niche in the portfolio of types of games Nintendo themselves don't make. They should buy Sega too, for similar reasons.
They have put out new IPs by the way Rhythm Heaven, Wii ___, and yes I know Wonderful 101 is being made by Platinum but Nintendo owns the IP. (and not this is not a definitive list just what I'm thinking of right now)
Nintendo buying Sega would be terrible for the industry, because Sega publishes and makes games that wouldn't work on Nintendo platforms, so we would just lose them. Platinum I couldn't care less now that Mikami is at Bethesda.
edit: Nintendo needs more western developers. The most blatantly obvious choice would be to hire Warren Spector and let him build a team.
