In concept, a Stridervania isn't a horrible idea, but I can't convince myself to get excited over this one.

It's not the genre I hate; it's the fact that there are so few pure 2D action games anymore that losing them to it frustrates the shit out of me. If it were another Metroid or Shadow Complex, great, but I don't want to see Strider follow Castlevania down the drain.
edit: I guess you could even claim that this is a follow up to NES Strider and that SotN was a follow up to Castlevania II, but it's a bit of a stretch, and neither of those NES games were as good as the series originals.
The graphics are so off-putting. There is no soul in the look. The movement is too sterile.
It has the 'undodgeable bullets so we will counteract that with a big lifebar' syndrome
also known as crap
But I think the look is fine
I don't mind the visuals much, although everything looks way too dark.
Just watched the video, looks great!
I think it just looks bad because it's a cheat run. I'd like to see how long that lifebar really is and what the actual pace of the game is like when taking damage is a concern. Hopefully, the deflection power-up plays more of a roll than eating bullets does.
Looks like they weren't sure if they wanted this to look like MvC3 or Bionic Commando: Rearmed and split the difference in a really weird and gross way.
I thought it would be worse. Still there are a few things I'd like to see fixed.
What's up with enemies shooting from offscreen? The voice acting needs an overhaul, also. "I denounce your soul"? Please.
Shoulda given it to G.Rev.
What I don't expect from this one is Strider 3.
Gameplay.
Not liking the visual style that much, specifically the character models. Looks a lot like Shadow Complex.
