Welcome to Barrie Ontario Canada. We're well known for 3 things.
We hosted the "Toronto" portion of Live 8, because our now paved over Molson Park was the only venue big enough and local enough to do it. We booed Celine Dion because she didn't come to grovel before us, instead performing via Satellite. Nothing says classy town like booing someone who is playing for charity.

Barrie is also the home of the largest marijuana bust in Canadian History. How big? Oh someone bought an old Brewery and used the vats. Nothing special. Just 30,000 plants and a street value estimated at $30 million.

Snow. We get a shit ton of it. Nothing extreme like Northern Quebec or Siberia, I guess, but enough to have normal people look at us funny when we mention where we live.

It can be kinda nice around here. We're the last piece of civilization before "Cottage Country" if you head north of Toronto.

We have our very own Guardian Mecha. It's called the Spirit Catcher.

The weather isn't just weird in the Winter either.

There's other stuff, I guess. We host a Junior A hockey team, the Colts. I'm sure you're fascinated. There you go.

enjoy my home town in video form
Here are some pics of where I live. I've moved so often that I don't know what qualifies as a hometown per se, but this is where I've lived the longest so far, so...
Some pics of the Cabo Rojo town square and town. The monument in the center is the tomb of Ramon Emeterio Betances, a famous Puerto Rican and father of the independence movement. The church in the images is where my daughters were baptized.

Buye Beach, about 10 minutes from my house (you can see it from my mom's porch. She lives in the same sub division as I do).

Belvedere Beach, about 5 minutes from my house in the other direction.
The recently renovated lighthouse:

Cabo Rojo also has salt flats and a major wildlife preserve:

What an awesome idea for a thread! I'll post some pics tomorrow. The town I live in is pretty shitty but there's nothing quite like photos of urban decay!
What kind of animals do you have there?Quote:

It's mostly a major stop for migratory birds between North and South America.
The only place in Central America I have been to is Costa Rica, and the wildlife was awesome (monkeys, caimans, birds, sloths, etc.) I was wondering if Puerto Rico was similar in that regard.
