Just jump on it when they are coming up, its easy.
I never have falling through floor problems, odd.
It may have some odd glitches but there are games that are much worse.
As for the Lillypad river, just walk on the wall. Ride a lilly pad and try to get all the Red Coins you can, jump of on the border wall, walk back and there should be a new lilly pad waiting for you. Once I found that out I did it with ease.

My housemate played Sunshine last night and got so frustrated that she renounced the game forever. This is the same girl that got 100% in Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, and Mario 64.

I am not even 1/2 way done- and yet I feel I have spent an eternity playing the game. I still have'nt even started the last 2 stages yet!
