People tend to like to share that which they consider a good experience with friends. Pretty natural.

Whiskey stones suck and don't really work.
I got a set for Christmas along with two gigantic ice cube makers. The giant ice cubes are THE BEST.
I find full beer mugs/steins uncomfortable to hold entirely by the handle, and it's an awkward way to drink.
Wine is very much like beer, in that there's really something out there for everyone. If you haven't found a wine you like, it's because you're not looking hard enough.
Edit: That being said, we live in California's wine country (there are vineyards across the street from us), so I suppose I have more options than most.
Try Icewine sometime, it's really fancy.
I especially dig dessert wines (there's a local chocolate port that's amazing), so yeah, I'm into ice wine.
