Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)

Hero, you always make the same argument about the industry that everybody already knows, and only a few people were contesting. Let it go, brother. If you enjoy the game, nobody can take that away from you.

THAT BEING SAID. I played up til World 3 last night and was grinning like an idiot the whole time. The David Wise music makes this feel like a real DKC to me, and all of the little throwbacks are rad. The mountain world with the owls might be my favorite locale yet. ALSO NO ICE LEVELS SO FAR.

2 Minecart levels though, but one of them turned into a log flume.

I have no doubt this is an excellent game. The question is, should it be penalized because it "doesn't add much" to a game that came out in 2010 on a different platform? I personally don't think so - an excellent game is an excellent game. But you can't keep giving AC or COD 9/10s while penalizing Nintendo for doing it.

Exactly. Somebody on GAF made a post about COD having 20 games in 10 years, AC having 16 in 6 years and DKC having 6 in 20, but reviewers saying there are too many games. It's a platformer, it handles well and the sights and sounds are pleasing. Sounds like a good game to me.

I've never been a DKC fan, but I agree that one set of standards needs to be applied. However, that would hurt Nintendo more than it helps them, if we expand the scope beyond DKC.

edit: I should be more clear. I'm not a fan of that prerendered look. I think that taints everything else about the DKC games for me, as there's nothing fundamentally wrong with how they play. About the only game I can think of that has that look and genuinely looks good to me is Pulstar.

I think DKC, Metroid, and Pikmin are the only series it helps.

Speaking of Pikmin, how the hell has that not gone on sale a single time since I've had my Wii U?

Dunno. Has it gone on sale since it launched? I got it from ~ My Momma ~ for Christmas.

There was a B2G1 at both Target and Best Buy I think, but I am not sure it's been on sale itself.

I haven't been able to find it on sale at all and it's driving me nuts because I want to play it so bad.

I got mine during the Target buy 2 get 1 +30% off extravaganza.
3 $60 games for $86 or some shit.
