You might have too many games if...
you need a list accessible from your phone.
Yeah, when I was in the thick of my retro shit I had an update list at the very least, sometimes pictures.
That's weird
That's when I knew I turned the corner from "dude who played a lot of games" to "dipshit collector."
Never had trouble remembering if I owned a game or not back when I actually played them.
But then again, I have sold off and rebuilt collections so many times over the years that it all meshes together. After a secret conversation with the mzo I took a look at my saturn and psx stuff for the first time in a long time. Games I was sure I had were no where to be found, games I was sure I sold were right there.
It's really disgusting.
I always can remember if I have a physical copy of game despite my huge collection. Digital is completely different because of all the games I don't give a shit about that came in humble bundles or whatever.
I use VG Collect on my phone. It helps when I find something in the wild. I think it's not as much an issue of having too many games as it is real life blotting everything else out. I don't spend as much time thinking about what games I own as I used to, so I may honestly forget that I bought Ghost House for the Master System 2 years ago. You have a lot more shit going on now than you did when you were 20. You're old and your brain needs help.
Typically keep track of things, sold a bunch of stuff about 5 years ago though and lost tabs on a few things. To compound it the only thing out right now is NES stuff, the rest of the games are in totes til I can whip up a shelving system. Doesn't help when they're out of sight.
