Well when you compare it with other fps games at the time it was a 10. The campaign wasn't the main reason why it scored so high either. The multiplayer was. Co-op also makes the campaigns much more fun.Quote:

The combat itself was way more satisfying and dynamic than other shooters at the time.
It was cool to join a battle in progress and have the people help out, drive for you, shoot for you etc.
The wide open design of the Halo ring itself was also really cool. The vehicles were really cool. I can easily see why it was praised at the time.
