This game came out on N64 when I was still living at home with two brothers. All other games had three save slots, so we each got a file. Since this one only had two, I let them have first dibs and just never got around to playing more than a few hours of it.
I'm excited to play this again. My memories are really vague, but I do remember enjoying it.

The graphics on this are a huge upgrade, they took the time to actually remodel
Goron Link when he's rolled up so his face etc has shape and he's not just a disc with a rolled up Goron texture, no detail seemed too small for them to fix. Wasn't OoT 3D just a retexture?
The c-stick works great, I still R button centre my camera instinctively though, old habits die hard.
The new bombers handbook is like a quest log, and they come up to you a lot and give you breadcrumb quests.

OoT got remodelled, and updated animations in areas too, along with the updated textures. Same with this.

I bought this and played through the first dungeon.
It's been a joy to play. This game is really charming. I love all the character animations, from the Happy Mask Salesman's rollercoaster emotions to deku-Link shrugging, to the way the tied up monkey happily claps his feet. It's all very cute, and really helps counter the dark undertones and the dread you feel as you watch the world prepare for the end.
I cracked up when I got the Mask of Scents and the backside of the mask is literally a butthole. I went looking for an image and the N64 version definitely doesn't have that.

So far I'm enjoying this a lot more than the last time I tried playing MM on N64, but a lot less than playing Majora for the first time (where I was an asshole college kid who spent more time playing videogames than getting good at real shit, so take that into account).
The changes to the game are definitely improvements and make playing more manageable and even fun again! Although I'd still recommend Link Between Worlds over this or OoT.

LBW is REALLY good, though I don't know about recommending it over OoT.
-
I would. I'm playing OoT right now. There are too many stretches of nothing happening. The dungeons feel like Doom when you've killed all the enemies but still can't find the key card. It's still super fun, it just rarely lets you forget that it's 17 years (o god) old.
LBW is airtight.

That was a better analogy when you used it for JSRF you repeating hack.
-
It's a really useful analogy!

The only aspect of OoT that even rates next to LBTW are maybe the boss fights.
LBTW is the best Zelda that wasn't on the NES. I just want a 60 FPS version of the original now.
