I want more details. Either she charged him with homicide to get the driver off, or there is damning evidence he intentionally hit the breaks or something with intent to kill, a la Death Proof.

Since a dude was murdered I figured justice began with his murderers being charged. Am I wrong?

If you're talking about the process of justice, then innocent until proven guilty is a big part of it. What if the officers are acquitted?
