new Star Trek tv series

There are definitely a lot of superfluous jokes that fall flat for me, but there's some good stuff mixed in there as well.

I've enjoyed Discovery as well, but retreading the pre-TNG timeline still seems like a wasted opportunity me. Compared to every other ST series' first season, it's pretty good, but not as 'out there' in terms of the actual sci-fi.

That's the thing about not having TV service, or any streaming services. I have to actively search things out. So all this stuff that people passively watch to get angry about I manage to miss completely.

Highly recommended.
