Brought to my attention by shmups.com about a week ago... I figured this little demo would make for some decent competetive entertainment...

It isn't too bad... It's mild fun.

Well, if we're playing diff 3 (Normal), I just knocked out a score:
573,452 - danhaigh - Skill 3
However, let me strongly recommend that you set the rules of the challenge to be diff 5 (Very Hard). That's not arbitrary; what is now "Very Hard" was the default difficulty through most of the XOP betas. The default was lowered in order to increase mainstream appeal. The increased difficulty means there's enough fire on screen to make scoring a bit more compelling.

Hmm.. the game is quite a bit more refreshing on Very Hard...
Be sure to mention what ship speed you choose. I always go for fast.
I always go fast as well, anything less shows you cannot control the ship :cool:
Ok, delete that old score, since it's diff 3. Here's my starting entry:

Lots of room for improvement, not least because I died on stage 2.
Btw, Very Hard is 5...there's no need to play on diff 6.
Can thread topics be edited? Just thinking the topic should read "XOP Demo", since the full version would be separate challenge if anyone was ever inclined to start one.
Lastly, Fast is pretty much the only way to go for ship speed. The XOP ship is slow anyway, and Fast lets you collect more DAL. It's the only way to go for significant scoring.

What weapons does everyone use? I always stick to G5 and G6... I like to use G6 throughout 1 and 2... but I use G5 for the Level 1 boss...
