Biggest Disappointments
What are some games you were highly anticipating that let you down?
Some of mine:
Yoshi's Story
Mischief Makers
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Perfect Dark
Sonic Adventure 2
Donkey Kong 64
Strider 2
Quake 3 Arena
Most of these games are still pretty good though.

I agree with you on, Yoshis Story, Perfect Dark, and Majoras Mask. I like Majoras Mask, but its not nearly as good as Ocarina or Time. Perfect Dark did not blow me away eitehr, they tried way too much all at once and made everything look sloppy, and play sloppy if you ask me. Yoshis Story could have been great if the difficulty was jacked up about 10 times what it was.

Zelda Majora's Mask-whoopee, time limits
Alien Front Online- Fun game but Sega didn't go out of their way to add anything new to the home port.
Yoshi's Story
Thunder Force 5- I like it but after 4 it seemed too short
Cannon Spike- Nice character illustrations and that's the best I can say.
Strider 2
Ys 3 Turbo CD and Ninja Gaiden PCE- stop-start scrolling is a big no-no to me
Photo Boy 2
Pinobee GBA- One of the first games to perk my interest in GBA, it turned out very average.
Salamander Deluxe Pack- Lifeforce NES is still my fav, and though Salamander 2 is fun, it's also inconsistent.

Why are so many people down on Bloodlines? Seems like a great Castlevania game to me. I have to agree on Yoshi's Story. You know, you can list every other "dissapointing" game elsewhere, because they just aren't in Yoshi's Story's leauge. Heck, the Genesis Strider 2 and Sonic Adventure 2 (with the Sonic levels taken out even) put together still don't even come close to reaching the 1/4 the dissapointment level of Yoshi's Story. I hear by declare that no other games shall be mentioned for at least a couple of posts, just because nothing else could possibly look dissapointing in comparison.
Seriously, we have Yoshi's Island, a platformer that has not been equalled yet even by other Mario games. Possibly the greatest video game of all time or at least the game with the most pure "fun" of all time. So Nintendo rolls out sexy new hardware and releases Yoshi's Story screen shots. "Wow" we all think, because the shots look amazing. The potential was limitless, especially with the game looking as it did. Then we actually play it and..... less than 10 boards and you're done!!!! That's IT!!!!! And those 10 boards are nothing but scavenger hunts with no propper end of level!? Where's the....everything!?
Yoshi's Story....Grrrrrrr

After Castlevania IV, Bloodlines felt like a step backwards to me. IV had the awesome whip movement and Bloodlines had nothing but crap graphics and the same gameplay as the 8-bit ones. Not that that's bad but I'm not a huge fan of the 8-bit Castlevanias.

I thought all those on NeoZeedeater's were great except for Sonic 2 and Donkey Kong 64. They were solid games but in the end not quite what I was looking forward to.
-
Sonic Adventure 2
Crazy Taxi 2
MGS2
Resident Evil: Director's Cut
THPS3 was only mildly disapointing, there's a still a lot going for it.
-
Sonic Adventure 2 was not a "solid game." It was very disappointing. Here's mine:
Capcom vs SNK (DC, after playing the NGPC rev)
MGS2
Yoshi's Story
Double Dragon 3 (NES)
Sonic Adventure 2 (and Battle)
Stretch Panic
Final Fantasy 8
Ugh, that's enough.

I love Bloodlines. I don't particularly IV all that much (come on, sue me; I dare you).
On the other hand, I kind of expected Strider 2 to blow me away. Instead it just blew. On a side note, this game was the reason why I hated Gamefan in the end. Their casutic ranting on how this is the greatest game in the world, and if you didn't like it, you were a pussy and shouldn't be reading this magazine. Downright insulting for a mediocre hack and slash.
Others = Sonic Adventure
Empire Earth
Command and Conquer: Tiberium Sun (damn that sucked)
Kings Quest 7
The PS2 when it first came out.
(Let me explain: with all the hype, I thought this thing was gonna destroy everything <graphically> when we <this occured at a staff party> plugged it in. Somehow, we weren't impressed and lost interest, reverting to Psone games.)
