Hey:
I skipped work yesterday to deal with my broken car, but ended up at an arcade with PaCrappa. The place was called Game Town and it was all right, but I did have some issues with the...presentation. For example:
*The place was small. Not really a flaw, but there was plenty of room in the back where they had their espresso bar. I doubt the average guy who walks into Game Town is going there for a coconut latte, put some cabs there.
*They had many, many cool and rare PCBs (fuckin' JPN Outfoxies and Parodius!!!), but they had them all crammed MVS-style into these cabs that housed 16 at a time. I was happy to see Ghouls n' Ghosts even running, but I definitley would have preferred 16 cabs. However, I'm sure scoring marquees for many of these games is why they were set up this way.
*They had a single-slot MVS running Bust-a-Move Again...in a Smash T.V. cab. Does this bother anyone else? I've always thought it looked trashy.
On the plus side, they had a Raiden Fighters cab and a 6-slot MVS complete with Metal Slug, Baseball Stars 2, and KOF '98, which I HUMILIATED PaCrappa at over and over again. That boy truly has no KOF skill. Or CvS2 skill. Or Real Bout Special skill.
A really nice arcade around here is Nickels in Kent, lots of classic Capcom stuff. The best part is you can spend hours there and only blow like ten bucks. Then if you want to venture further south, the South Hill mall has a killer arcade with Capcom Alien vs. Predator and the Punisher, not to mention lots of MVS support. The South Hill mall was flooded over the weekend, so I can only pray that Alien vs. Predator wasn't damaged...
Do you have a good local arcade(s)? Do tell.
