Those that know me, know my credibility. For everyone else that only read the Ikaruga thread, I couldn't care less.
I'm simply stating that SO3 is terrible so noone gets severely disappointed when the US version is eventually released. Take that as you will. Hey I wish it was a great game too, I mean I was the one who PAID for it. =P

and I don't give a damn what duckroll thinks... if he wants to think it sucks good for him, but after saying that the item creation is random I know he is full of shit... Have you played SO3? Nope, you haven't! It's nothing like SO2, it's more like select what type of shit you wanna make, which characters you want to make it and hit the button and then wait! You might fail or you might get a random item of that type! Yay! :P
The only non-random items that are created are those where you give a NPC creator the item he/she wants (read: Fetch quest!) and then recruit them and give them another item to make the item with (read: Fetch quest 2!).
I don't give a crap what you think either, that doesn't change the fact that tri-Ace decided to dumb everything down for the masses and fucked it all up.
edit: Maybe I forgot to mention this but you don't even get to do ANY Item Creation until like 9 hours into the game, by which time the generic world, boring ass plot and irritating characters would have killed most of your love for the game.
Even the president of Treasure repeatedly said that Ikuraga would never see a home port, so calling duckroll on that seems a little odd.
He's also just giving his opinion, more like a warning, of the game. Perhaps you should face the possiblity that this game just might suck. The fact that it's the buggiest PS2 release I've heard of isn't a very encouraging sign.
I doubt it will suck completely, but from what I've heard yeah it does sound like it won't be up to par. Which is why you usually should rent a game first before you buy it. Er finish this post later when my teacher isn't over my shoulder >.>

And everything I heard about SO3 before release said that item creation would be emphasized more than ever, and that tri-Ace were trying to play down the need for shops. It sounds like there's some element duckroll isn't getting.
Ok, here's my LAST word on the Ikaruga issue. I was wrong. I thought I was right and it was fun (and childish) to run down all the people expecting that Ikaruga would be released on the date that NCSX claimed it would. Obviously Treasure saw the demand for it from that hoax and turned it into reality. Since so many of you seem to be so hung up on that, if I offended you I'm sorry, but hey you got to play Ikaruga on the DC and so did I! So in the end we both win.
About SO3's Item Creation system, here's what -you- don't seem to be getting. I -get- the system, it just doesn't work as well as it was concieved. In fact, the need for shops are not lessened but instead they become MORE important/useful in the long run. Items that you create now also exist in the world and shops will pick them up and start selling them so you can buy more instead of having to create more. NPC Creators that you do not recruit will also create items autotmatically without you, competiting with your creator ranking. And yes, all this sounds very interesting and "deep", and I must admit when I first got introduced to the system 9 hours into the game I was jumping for joy. The sad fact is that, unfortunately, this system just isn't very fun, or deep at all. I -get- the system, I just don't like it at all. Lots of flashy cotton coating but in the end, it just isn't as deep or flexible anymore.
The worst aspect is still the complete removable of misc skills. No more skill guilds, no more extra fun skills that you can learn. The only skills left in the game are a) Special attacks, b) Magic, c) Support skills in battle. What are Skill Points used for now? Improving the character's 5 attributes (strength, magic, etc). That's it. Kinda disappointing eh?
