hmm yeah id give it about a 6 or 7 out of 10
I'm thinking about 7 out of 10. I just got a copy of Turok PS2. Your guys' reviews were right on target.
is the GC version out? Hmmm...PS2 or GC? Decisions...
Either way I'll rent it. Buying's a different beast...
all 3 versions are out came out on all systems at once
i got the GC version
IGN has the cheats for the game (invincibility, invisibility, guns, ammo, etc.) if you are the cheating kind.
FOLLOW-UP IMPRESSIONS (Xbox rev):
Played it quite a bit more last night, and I'm glad to say that the environments have "opened up" considerably as compared to the first few levels. Big outdoor levels, extremely reminiscent of the orginal Turok (although there looks to be a fair amount of indoor fighting in some of the later levels). So far, there's been a decent mix of "stealth" and guns-a-blazin' action. (Oh yeah, unlike the console version of MOH: Frontline, when you put the bead on an enemy in Turok, he is one soon-to-be dead-ass pile of goo.)
Also, the challenge has ramped up quite a bit -- swarms of enemies with decent (and occasionally, "smart") A.I. tactics. My guess is that this game will be hard for the casual gamer to beat without codes.
Environments still look a little bland, but the ambient atmosphere is appealing to me. Weapons and death animations are still the name of the game, though.
Based on some previews, there seems to be a lot that I haven't seen (e.g. - huge firefights with allies backing you up; and some huge boss fights), but I have a pretty good feel for how this one is going to play out.
Turok fans (especially fans of the original) won't be dissapointed. However, if you don't like Turok, or are lukewarm on FPSs, this one's probably best left for a rental (although, again, the very early levels are a poor indicator for what follows).
Anyone know of any graphical differences between the 3?
From what I've seen of the other versions (and it's not a lot), and from reading a bit here and there, here are some generalizations between Xbox and GC (haven't seen or played the PS2 rev):Quote:

1. The Xbox has more noticeably more stuff (animals, vegetation, etc.) on screen in some areas than the GC.
2. The Xbox has more and better textures, although perhaps at a price, since the GC seems to have a somewhat brighter and crisper look. Xbox rev may seem a little washed out as compared to the GC, from what little I've seen.
3. Some folks (including some people that I actually trust) have suggested that the GC has a more consistent frame rate than the Xbox rev, and I believe that the someone on the actual dev team even let slip that the Xbox rev is the better looking of the two, while the GC rev is the better playing of the two. Take it for what it's worth.
Personally, I haven't noticed any big problems with the Xbox frame rate, and I'd rather have more stuff on screen and better textures for a more immersive experience. But, I'm assuming the GC plays at least as well, if not better, and looks fine.
This ain't a spectacular, cutting edge game, Chibi, so these differences don't amount to much in my book. It's just fun killing guys Turok style, and the game is long, challenging and will last a while. If you into that, either version will probably do.
Hmmm... I guess it's safe to dismiss the PS2 version anyway due to lack of progressive scan. I was really hoping for something spectacular and cutting edge tho'. I haven't rented a game in about 10 years, but with so much coming out these days I might have to start again.Quote:
