How long till we have Virtual Reality in our homes?

I don't see how you people can think that Virtual Reality would be dumb? Thats the whole goal with video games in the first place. To be something else, in a different world, doing things you can't in the real world. Why would it be so horrid to actually be there? Actually feel like you are holding the gun thats pointing at the advning creature? Seems to me this is whats going to happan in like 30 years. And no one has tried VR since the early 90's, so of course they could not do better in the future.

VR would kick ass if done right! In fact, VR done wrong (Virtual Boy) still kicks ass! I wish a company would take advantage of the power of XB2, PS3, and Apple X (of course, the new 3rd wheel company in the industry, to take MS's place after they take a undisputable 2nd after Nintendo goes 3rd Party... I'm psychic, trust me!) and give us da' goggles, but not shitty goggles, ones with HDTV resolution, and games actually programmed to take up our whole feild of vision with them, like racers and mech games esp!

I think the last I heard of headset type techonlogy were the Glasstron(?)glasses from Sony. Priced at about $500, there were a pair of television glasses simulating a gigantic TV right in front of your eyes, I think you could play games with it, not sure though. I'd certainly like to give Daytona USA in first-person view a try on that though. ;)

There are so many reasons why VR is bad.

First of all having video screens that close to your eyes is a big no no.

As much as people like to get emerging into a game, film or book surely they want to know whats going on around them. Not being able to see or hear because your wearing a VR helmet for a long stretch of time could be bloody dangerous.


It will never take off and be glad it doesn't.

This is actually why I moved into my duplex's attic. Up here, I can play videogames loud as hell and can't hear the phone or doorbell. There's also no visible clock (unless I walk over to my puter and stare at the corner, but that clock is wrong anyway), so I have no clue what time it is, and that makes me happy.

To be able to lose all outside influence and immerse completely, that is exactly what I love to do while reading, watching movies, or playing games.

Thing is, everything worth stealing is now right in front of me, which is right next to my bedroom, and the attic gets locked whenever I'm away or going to bed. People have stolen stuff from me before (but it was all while I was away), and they could do it again, but I'm too sensitive to outside noise and stimulation for people to even open the door downstairs without me knowing, no matter how engrossed I am in what I'm doing. Hence why I like it up here.
