I dunno if it's even great anymore, maybe merely good.
Given the fact that it's made a transition to mostly outlandish stories and mostly about "a bunch of stuff that happens"-type shows, they sure recycle a lot of jokes and tired references.

Im probably one of the world's biggest Simpsons fans... seasons 2-7 that is. Im sorry but if you ask me the past three or four seasons have been unwatchable. They turned Homer into a totally unlikeable buffoon, they killed off Maude, and the storylines are dumb and evident that they are running out of ideas.
I just don't like the show now. I can think of four or five shows I would rather watch more. And I do. I don't really watch The Simpsons anymore but it kinda makes me sad that Fox just keeps the show running. Because I used to love it so much.
But, hey, if you are still watching it and enjoying it, great! You obviously see something in it I don't.
you need to see Ray Jay Johnson at least once. . .Quote:
Nothing is, was, or ever will be better than the Simpsons. No one can ever change my mind, either.
Maude's VA retired.

I have no idea what that means, so I will continue on with my blind Simpsons love. :)
But seriously, I am such a dork when it comes to loving the Simpsons. There's no curing me, and it's kinda pathetic, actually.
If you see the Ray Jay Johnson skit at least once, you will definitely consider it to be better than the simpsons. Really, there's no comparison between the too.
Ray Jay Johnson shows up somewhere. is lost.
girl:"Hey, Mr. Johnson!"
Raymond Jay Johnson Jr: "Oh you doesn't has to call me Mr. Johnson!"
"Now you can call me Ray,
Or you can call me Jay,
Or you can call me Johnny,
Or you can call me Sonny,
Or you can call me Junie,
Or you can call me Ray Jay,
Or you can call me RJ
Or you can call me RJJ
Or you can call me RJJ jr!
But you doesn't has to call me MR. Johnson!
"
now change girl to "boy", "man", "old man", "young girl", and you get a completely new and amazing Ray Jay Johnson skit. The possibilities are endless. . .
That...confuses me. *hugs his Bart Simpson doll just a little bit tighter*
I'm with diffusionx. I used to be the biggest fan. I stopped watching 2 years ago because the stories starting becoming incoherent. I remember this one episode where they have a domestic disturbance and a social worker helps them out for the first half. Then, the 2 Las Vegas wives from a previous episode comes in out of no where; making the last 15 minutes totally pointless. That episode made me stop watching all together.
The past three seasons of the Simpsons have been awful, but every season before that was pure genius.
What rezo meant to say was that the voice actor who played Maude left the show, so they killed off her character. A much better solution than finding a replacement VA, something the Simpsons has never done in its 10+ year history.
Actually, they replaced Maudes voice for a few episodes, but yeah, its better to have killed her off.
I love the Simpsons. We get around 20 hours of simpsons a week here in Australia, and I watch as much of it as I can. we have 3 hour marathons every saturday and sunday too.
Ah, VA meant voice actor. Okay, that part makes sense now. I still am confused about that Ray Jay Johnson thing, though. Am I missing an obscure Simpsons reference here, or is that for real?
