They mentioned the Ray Jay Johnson skit on the Simpsons. I think the show was amazing in it's prime, now, it's mearly good. Family Guy, much like the Clerks Animated Series, had the deck stacked against it, giving it no chance of success.

Way to go, me. You called it.Quote:
It's just about time for someone to come in bitching about how it's not as good as it used to be, even though after 13 or so seasons it's still the best on TV. Nonetheless, they will bitch, and annoy us, and talk about how they barely watch it anymore like anyone fucking cares, and make themselves looks stupid by bashing something just for the sake of bashing something.
Even when the Simpsons is bad, its good.
Best. Show. Ever.
The GABBO episode (Krusty Comeback Special I believe)... Gabbo was getting all the good guests and the last one that Krusty could get was Ray Jay Johnson... then when the Krusty Comeback Special came on the only guest Gabbo could get was Ray Jay Johnson. Hahaha... great episode.Quote:

Ah, VA meant voice actor. Okay, that part makes sense now. I still am confused about that Ray Jay Johnson thing, though. Am I missing an obscure Simpsons reference here, or is that for real?
That and the show was absolutely horrid.Quote:

Simpsons was good but I'm glad that Futurama is around now.

See, that's another reason why the Simpsons is such an awesome show; it works on so many levels. I love the Simpsons and I have seen every episode literally dozens of times (well, the ones in reruns, at least), but that part in the Gabbo show just flew right over my head. There's just so much *wink wink* humour and cool references that you could watch an episode ten times and never catch everything. That's what makes it so timeless to me. I think Family Guy is also a good show, but it doesn't have the long-term appeal that the Simpsons has. Its main focus was throwing jokes at you a mile a minute...and I guess that's okay, but I think that's what made that show become so stale. I would watch an episode of Family Guy once and laugh my ass off, and then when I watched it a second time, I wouldn't even crack a smile. South Park also suffers from this same problem. The episodes are REALLY funny once, and only once.
The Simpsons is the best tv show ever. It was better, but even now the worst episode of the simpsons is still better than 95% of anything else on.
No matter how terrible the new espisodes get, none have yet to eclipse the horrible "Spy Camera" episode in terms of sheer poor quality.
It's the only TV show I watch with any semblance of regularity.
Adult Swim's comedy block owns the simpsons nowadays... it's really the only thing that i sit down to watch
Well, I've loved the Simpsons since it came on, I've studied the thing, written papers about it, so on, I really really like the show.
And, I have to say, I wish the thing would get cancelled. Almost every episode of the past season has made me feel like a jackass for watching it. THE PLOTS ARE SO FUCKING STUPID, and the show's become a weird meandering collection of dumb mean-spirited jokes. I still laugh at times, but the laughs are cheap, and few and far between.
I'm really sick of the thing - I'm having a good time rediscovering King of the Hill, which is cool. The Simpsons is just a show, and if it was just bad, I wouldn't really care - a few laughs every thirty minutes would be enough to keep me watching. However, I'm starting to feel like the writers are playing a joke on me, trying to see how much bullshit I'll sit through, and it sucks.
