CvS2 is getting stale already.
Just because something's old, doesn't mean that it's not good.Quote:
Old
And just because something's new doesn't make it good either.
And I'd love to hear the merits of the versus series (either of them) or the zero series or whatever, but I'd bet that in the end it'll just amount to "I loved incredibly imbalanced and/or cheesy gameplay".
Good SF series:
SF3
that is all.
everything else sucks monkey cocks.and i swear whoever is doing the casting for the next CvS had better put Clark and or vanessa in there.i meen god damn do they even know how super goodest these characters are....and for the love of god get rid or RAIDEN!!!!
GRIFFITH RULES YOU ALL!!!

No it couldn't... as people have mentioned here, there were two different types of online structures for Japanese DC online gaming.
One uses a real network. Games include Daytona USA, PSO, Sakura Taisen Online, etc. Anyone from the US could have connected to these servers through their own ISP and started a game.
The other structure uses direct connection, which mainly Capcom used. They call it "Matching Service" and that's exactly what it was. Not unlike the service XBand provided here in the US back in the 16 bit days. The thing is, it's a heckuvalot easier and feasible for that to happen in Japan than it is in the Western world. Not only is the US a heckuvalot bigger, but you'd incur long-distance calling fees depending where your opponent lived.
And considering the XBox's service is broadband only, that just further reinforces that it could not have been done on DC. You ever play with XBand SSF2? I did. It was fun, but it was hardly skillful as every shouryuuken you throw comes out about a second later. Sure the DC's 56k modem is better than the XBand's 14.4, but in a game where timing is the most important aspect, I'm glad Capcom didn't kill it by allowing dialup people to play.
Oh and lastly, why are people wishing that it'd be the new Capcom All-Stars game? If anything, I would have much preferred it be Street Fighter II: Turbo/Hyper Fighting or Street Fighter III (any of them).
Darn near every Capcom fighter outside of the main series is trash.
when i said that DC could do it, i forgot that when xband did it, it was direct connect, and all online DC games have to dial in to a main server, making it that much slower..
but i disagree with what you said about XBand SSF2 (or any other game on xband)..
although there was slightly noticeable lag and occasional disconnects in games, once you've adjusted to it, the game feels very natural and there's a lot of skill involved.. i had SSF2, which i played and enjoyed on xband, along w/ MK2 and mario kart, and KI... great fun :)
