Upon closer inspection, I was wrong on Mitsurugi & Yoshimitsu... As their names in Kanji do not contain Chinese letter for 3. But, "Mitsubishi" definitely starts with Chinese letter 3.
ŽO•H = Three Diamonds (like their logo, get it?)
It might seem like a completely random guessing, but it really isn't that unusual among Japanese people to use numbers as their initials... For example, Shiina Hekiru, a semi-popular anime & VG voice actress/singer (I use that term loosely)/DJ uses 417 as her initials.
Shi = another way to pronounce #4
Ichi = 1
Nana = 7
