It's my understanding that steroids make you stronger, and strength doesn't necessarily mean your swing would get faster. He's always had a quick bat, even before he bulked up.Quote:

That deserves respect?
Pitchers are scared to throw him strikes, but don't want to just walk him every time. He's smart and disciplined enough to not swing at the bad stuff. If he was just a mere juiced up hulk, he'd be waving at anything close to the plate. Pitchers make mistakes, and he hits them hard. I've never seen pitchers treat any batter like they do Bonds.
He deserves respect on the field, you bet. His off-the-field personality is another matter entirely - keep in mind that you're not constantly hearing about how he's beating his wife, getting arrested, and driving drunk. Would you say he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame because he's a jerk? I certainly wouldn't. Say what you want about Bonds as a person - I'm not denying he's a jackass - but his presence in the lineup affects every game he plays, moreso than anyone else in many years.
On-T: The Angels are in great shape heading to the Ed! :)
No, more muscle means you can pull the bat faster. Its very simple to understand that. He does have a good eye, and he is a good hitter. But the only reason he gets those home runs is due to the Steroids. As for the Positive Vibes coments, I only give positive vibes to people who deserve it, like the Twins. Bonds deserves shit.
Steroids are the ONLY reason he hits home runs? I disagree. He was a power hitter in his skinny days with the Pirates - I think he hit 44 one year. And again, steroids don't magically make him hit major league pitching (watered down though it may be). And like I said before - muscle mass means nothing as far as home run power is concerned: look at Shawn Green, Glaus, and Vlad Guerrero, among other MLB sluggers They're all rail-thin. Even A-Rod isn't a big muscular guy.
I don't like him either, for the record, but you must admit he drastically changes opposing managers' strategies just by being in the lineup - not to mention how he gets inside pitchers' heads. And I would like to see him get a shot to play in the Series (along with the rest of the Giants).
The only thing I dislike about Barry is the way that he uses that elbow armor as an excuse to crowd the plate. Other than that, his skills are impeccable, and he's great to watch.
No Steroids arn't the only reason he hits home runs, its the only reason he hits THAT many. I don't think he would have broken the record with out them. Thats just how I feel. And that Elbow prtector is a bunch of bull, that thing is HUGE! Its like Medievil armor.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bonds is a fine baseball player. Not so much in the outfeild anymore, not as fast as he once was (he is 38 after all). But he is only getting the current super hitting power from Steroids. Sure smaller guys can hit homers as well, but not as much. And not as long.
But I want to stop arguing about Barry now, I started it and now I end it.
