Thread: Smallville

  1. Tonight's episode was one of the best they've done. Certainly the best one this season. Very good! That memory Clark had was incredibly cool!! Can't wait for the next two eps.

Pete Ross is the vice president ...er....correction ,President of the United States in the comic universe! seriously. Chloe doesnt even exist so, Im sure that if the writers were going to off somebody it'd be her. After that Truth power episode the other week, I think its a given that Lionel is going to murder her.

This weeks episode was pretty good , but I'm not quite sure how all of that memory equipment blew-up when Clark was in it.Does Superman have the power to destroy shit by yelling at the top of his voice now or what? That and I cant see ANYONE Kryptonian or not remembering through regression/hypnotism anything when they were a newborn baby and being able to discern any form of language to understand what,, say ,your parents might be talking about at the time.

I did like the way the episode paralleled Clark and Lexs past and showed how differently they've been treated their whole lives. Clark has always been loved and had someone to love him from the day he was born. Lex on the other hand had a father who despised the way he looked, hated him for the supposed murder of his brother, and was always harsh on him because he was a high and mighty Luthor.

Oh and I just read that Sam Jones, the kid who plays Pete, wont be back next season. I cant see the writers killing him off, so maybe he just moves out of town or something. Still, bad mistake on their part. I thought it was kind of cool for Clark to have someone besides his parents to confide in about his powers.Especially, it being his best friend.Maybe this means that Clark will finally tell Lana -

  3. Ah. That's good and bad. So that means that Pete is the current Pres.? What happened to Lex?
Taking it one day at a time.

Superman and Batman got in a knockdown drag-out with him in the pages of Superman/Batman #6 - I believe the world presumes he is dead although in the final pages , it shows him coming out of the debris from his battle with the two.

  5. Oh yeah, doesn't Superman have super breath? That might be how it happened...

Also, maybe it's the latant psychic ability that some say he has (I don't think I've heard any official reference, but some use it as an excuse about how he's able to just take off his glasses and not have people recognize him.)

I hear DC is going to incorporate her character into the comics since alot of the fans love her in Smallville. I don't mind it that much, it'll be interesting to see though.

Never heard of the super-breath (well minus the ice breath - but he wasnt using that in show) or pyschic abilities - but I do remember seeing an episode of the Superman animated series that tried to exlpain the whole "glasses on Clark Kent" - glasses off Not Clark Kent only Superman" thing. It involved having the Legion of Superheroes come back in time from the future to fight Brainiac, before they left one of the Legion (I dont know which , I dont follow the series too often) put some kind of a weird mojo on Supes' glasses so that no one would recognize him when he wore them and vice versa. Have to go find and DL that ep. as it was the best attempt at explaining why noone can tell that they are both one and the same.

Really? That I didnt hear about.I honestly could care less though as one nosy, annoying,Lane reporter is enough. We dont need two in the books. It seems to me that it would be messing with continuity in a way seeing as Clark has never mentioned the character then BAM "Oh, Hi Chloe, one of my best friends from high school, who Ive never talked about or who has never been mentioned by my wife or family back home --ever--, How's it going?"

  8. Actually, they are already rewriting superman's continuity with Superman Birthright, and I'm still confused about how they are reintroducing Supergirl yet again in the Superman/Batman comics.

Tonights episode was good though, and I actually would see Lex becomming similar to the Lex in Superman: Birthright. In Birthright Lex sees himself as a savior and Superman as a freak and he's doing everything he can to discredit him.

As for Cloe, I don't see how they could fit her in continuity as the same person as she was in smallville. It would be screwed up for her to still be trying to investigate Clark after all these years.

If she's introduced as a distant cousin that never really knew Clark though then there could be some potential for her to just be another bothersome reporter for Clark to deal with (since unlike his wife, Cloe would probably be more open to revealing his secret should she find out.)

  9. I liked today's episode with the superfights between Clark and the indian kid with the starknife. How can you not like seeing two superspeedsters collide at full force, throw each other around, and hit each other with trees? The ending was a damn good explanation of the future Lex Luthor's motive for hating Superman. This is also supposedly explained a lot more in the "Superman: Lex Luthor, Man of Steel" book by Azzarello in which Superman is shown from Lex's Point of view as a dangerous alien with god-like powers who needs to be stopped.
