Thread: Best Versions of Games.

  1. I find that har to believe. Tony 3 sucked on the cube because it suffered from massive slowdown that wasn't present on the Xbox rev. I think I'll wait for a second opinion (no offense). Is the slowdown still a problem? If I am not playing online, what version of THPS4 is the best?
I'm renting THPS4, at the moment. Not a bit of slowdown on the 'box version. Control is great, and I'm skating to Guitar Vader.

    TobalRox,
the SegaCD version of Earthworn Jim sucks ass. There is loading in the middle of levels, like you're running, then all of a sudden: Loading. Why would you want this when you can play the cart fluidly, and not to mention the redbbok audio was too crisp, the coded BGM was much more fitting.

    Rez
Guess I just got used to Redbook and load times with my Sega CD, so always prefered their versions over others

  3. Earthworm Jim Special Edition on Sega CD is the best version of the game. Long live Sega CD!

Except for Max Payne for Xbox. Other than lack of Mods(and mouse) created later on, Xbox version is superior to PC one.

This is going to be a shocker (really) to everyone, but I have to disagree with you. All else being equal, the Xbox version is the best, because of the esentally limitless save space on the hard drive. For games that make you want to create many save files, it's a God send.

In terms of technical superiority Xbox wins of course because of HD,newer technology,etc...

    but...

Gamecube version is still better just because of that little DVD disc. You look at it and say "There is no way a good game could be on such a tiny little disc". But it is.

  7. Snatcher -
Sega CD: English . Voice acting, better visuals. Terrible ending.
PC Engine: See above, but ignore the "English" part.
MSX2/PC88: Not as bad of an ending? I hope so.
The Sega CD had a TERRIBLE ending??!!! That's one of the best endings in a game! It's cool how everything wasn't wrapped up in a nice neat ending...all you know is that he was off to Russia to find the factory..The PC-E, Saturn, PSX and Sega CD versions all have nearly the same ending, except on the Sega CD version they go into more detail, thus it has THE most complete ending out of all the versions...On both PC versions, the game ended at Act 2 , so if you actually disliked the console endings, you will REALLY hate those

And graphics. So... how is the XBox version superior? Granted, I only finished the game because the Ultimate Mod made it a whole lot more fun (they had some cheap-ass stuff later on).

I guess that it's not the ending itself as much as it is the fact that there isn't much of a chance of seeing a conclusion to the story. The ending was pretty good, yes, but I can't stand being left with the story at such an open position.

As for the MSX and PC88 versions... The ending sucks? I figured it would be somewhat similar, only without the whole Moscow thing.
