Earthworm Jim was done better on the Genesis wasn't it? the 32 bit ports are the best anyways.
I'll also add the Out Of This World and Alone In The Dark were also better on the 3DO.Originally posted by James
Star Control 2 on 3DO blew the PC version out of the water.
Now that I'm thinking 3DO, the version of Starfighter on 3DO beat out all other versions too. Didn't help that all other versions were pretty horrible, though.

In order to do the special moves in THPS, you have to preform quick button taps, likeOriginally posted by burgundy
I don't know shit about Tony Hawk, but I use the analog stick to play every GB game I own and I have nary a problem.
Up , Up
Right, Down
Down, Left
etc
And these are things that you have to do very quickly, and repeatedly if want to score big. And this is something that I find extremely uncomfortable using analog controlls.
In case you didn't realize, the PS2's D-Pad is not comprised of four seperate buttons. Take a look at it, if ever happen to have one in your general vicinity. When you press on button, the whole thing moves.I know the GC version of TH is not the one to get, but the GC actually has a Dpad and the PS2 has 4 pellets.
dumb comparison of the day:
Symphony of the Night PSX vs. Saturn
Saturn: Version comes replete with three selectable characters from the start, (Alucard, Richter and Maria(?))
and at least 2 xtra levels i know of. BUT it also comes with more slowdown, grainier graphics, no transparencies, and general sense of a rushed port.
PSX: while not having the xtra 2 levels (hardly worth it) or the initial three characters to select from (to get Richter the game needed to be beaten with a certain percentage and then started with a new game choosing the name "RICHTER") however, it was as beautiful as the Saturn version was not. definitely and easily the superior version.
Don't forget that the "loading" rooms don't work in the Saturn version.
Regus already stole my thunder about Spodaddy's other points, so I'll just add my two cents the glaring flaw in his argument.
Guess what's the only reason I don't own a copy of Aggressive Inline for the GC. That's right, it's the soundtrack. Gameplay wise, AI is the best extreme sports game currently available, but I just cannot play the game for extended periods of time listening to shit like P.O.D, Saliva, etc. The only songs I deemed "listenable" on AI were the tunes from Boy Hits Car and Reel Big Fish. And naturally, after listening to the same two songs over and over again, I'm bound to become jaded.Originally posted by Spodaddy
Who cares about the custom soundtrack feature, first of all I don't understand why people care at all and don't just listen to their stereo when they play games.
Sure, I could just turn on a stereo, but then I wouldn't be able to hear the sound effects. I could mute the BGM, but just like the turning off the SFX, doing so greatly detracts from the overall playing experience.
Conclusion?
1. I need an Xbox
2. Kicking Spodaddy in the balls is WELL worth $2
The PSX versions of Return Fire, Road Rash, and Road and Track's Need for Speed reign supreme over their 3DO and Saturn counterparts. Also, the 3DO version of Samurai Showdown is the best of the bunch, with the Genesis version getting the second place nod. Being able to play the Genny version on the Nomad anywhere is a plus for the Genny version though.

The Genesis controller is one of the most god-awful pads I have ever touched.Originally posted by Yoshi
If you want to use one of the worst controllers ever conceived instead of one of the best. But, hey, graphics are the only thing that matter, right?![]()
I (at least) know that, but I think the plastic tabs over the diagonals are really uncomfortable and unnecessary.Originally posted by Regus

The PSX and Saturn versions look like ass compared to the 3DO. A lot of the 3DO games had draw distances that the other two 32bit systems could never match.Originally posted by James

Yeah, I've got one between my Cube and XBox. 4 pellets alright. Speaking of DPads, what the hell is that weird thing on the XBox pad called, a wave pad? None of the current systems have a good enough pad on them for anyone to talk shit about what anyone else has. Actually, with as much criticism as the GC DPad gets, it's ironic that it's the only current system that actually has a DPad.
