Thread: Gunbird 2!

  1. Might as well throw in my max coin chain: 24

  2. 556,500 - Bern-D / Valpiro 1-6

Mode, danhaigh told me about a safe spot you've discovered
in the blue turrets scene in the middle of Stage 1-5. How
do you do this? If you can, I would like to see a movie
    clip of this.

Would be nice to save a bomb there, let alone survive...

    Question answered. Thanks, Mode!

To everyone else, there is no safe spot, but a way to
exploit the turrets' poor aim. Surprising to learn that I
can use their poor aim to my advantage instead of being
    scared by it.

  3. Blah...

    554,000 - Triple Lei / Marion 1-5 [verified]

That 1-5 Boss "2-3-4" pattern is still getting me. I mean, sometimes I get through it, but other times I avoid the first set and then I immediately get hit by the next, so it's not really consistent. Does the time I actually dodge have to be exact as well?

There's also a hidden message in my score. :jest:

As long as you see the pattern before you dodge, you will
be fine. Once you see the entire pattern, you know the boss
chose the pattern's direction, and since the pattern is
aimed, now's the time to move. If you dodge too early,
you're giving the boss a chance to re-aim.

Look! the entire pattern has just left the boss. Tavia here
now has a third of a second to move to the left, which is
plenty of time. Just look in front of the boss and trust
yourself with the joystick or joypad, and you will dodge
    the pattern consistently.

  5. I see that you're using Valpiro, Bern... I have always used Tavia until now.... Valpiro is insanely powerful, thought. Any tips on using the character? He's a tad bit slow, but I think his power greatly makes up for it...

I can't seem to make any progress in this game.

It does. The best way to get over Valpiro slow speed is
through foresight. In other words, you cannot rely only on
your reflexes to clear the game. In particular, know how to
manage your weapons when you battle against large enemies
and bosses. Most of the time, you will need to use the
Valpiro Punch (short-range attack) to destroy these enemies
before they have a chance to attack. A few times, you can
use the Atomic Punch (charge attack) to clear a large group
    smaller enemies.

But in order to make any more progress in the game, you must
use your bomb to clear the toughest patterns. The game
provides a generous helping of them, 15 in all. I think you
will need up to 12 bombs to clear the first round of the
game, which still leaves you with 3 bombs for emergencies.

I have my basic plan for a one-round clearance on my web
site and I will provide stage capture reports shortly. But
I am basing my strategies from this web site:

    http://w3222.nsk.ne.jp/~aphrodite/gb2

I also have an expert play movie so I could make some sense
of the machine translation. I've enabled private messaging,
so if you want it, I can give you the FTP server to
    download it.

It usually takes me an hour or two to understand the basic
layout of each stage. If you can put forth such effort, you
will be rewarded with the enemy's quick defeat. After using
aphrodite's capture reports, it probably took me less than
40 plays to get to where I am now.

Nice little write-up. Yea, my biggest problem is with the damned random stages. I always have fewer problems when Britain is drawn as 1-3 and Italy as 1-2. But this rarely happens...

I've pretty much memorized when the larger enemies come out so I can quickly unleash the punch and I always make sure to save the powered-up A shot for big groups (like the cactus field in USA.)

I'm definitely gonna have to remeber your bomb distribution method next time I play to see if I can manage something similar.

And I'll be sure to PM you about that video, too.

    Thanks very much.

  8. For the four statues in Stage 6, does anyone know what the
patterns for the upper-left statue and the lower-right
    statue look like?

Like death. My philosophy is to never let them sumbitches fire. A melee attack for each just as they come alive.

    Unhelpful, I'm sure.

  10. I'd submit a score if I was anywhere near 1/4 of the way all of you are ^_^
