Thread: Too many buttons?

  1. Those demo screens really give you a headache, I don't really care how many buttons are used as long as it's 1) intuitive and 2) you can figure it out. If I have to look in a manual to figure out what a button does, there's trouble. Same deal with the in game system. A little tutorial is fine, but too much is just damn annoying. Like the beginning of Kingdom Hearts, WTF.

well, the Z Button isn't really meant to be used really. Nintendo didn't put it their on their original design, but many 3rd Party Developers asked them to put it on.

and it's really the face button layout that shows what im talking about.

i feel the same. i feel that more buttons could've been used on PSO EP I&II. all im saying is, that the GameCube controller encourages intuitive design.
Do you mean the actual shapes of the buttons? Because again, it has the same number on the face as the PS2.

If you've got tiny hands it's great. That shit hurts grown mens hands before long.

yeah but the jag controllers calculator at the bottom was mostly to switch thru weapons and the such. not for easy things like running and stuff.

  8. I've never really hada problem with too many butons. Rainbow Six on the DC gave me a little trouble at first but I soon mastered it.

  9. Well, I love my GC controller. The button layout, though scoffed at by many, is excellent. It streamlines user interface and actually makes game playing easier. This aspect is extremely important. I don't want 64 buttons. I want to preform a wide variety of functions and acrobatics, with the least amount of buttons, and without sinking the skill level requirements placed on me, as a gamer. I believe the GC controller is perfect in this reguard. Matter of factly, the only thing it isn't good for is fighters...but who ever plays a fighter without a joystick is a tool anyway, so they've no right to complain.

There's no doubt that button layout on the GC is my favorite. And I love the way it grips. I"ll even say it's in recent time, beaten out the S-Tyoe as my favorite controller of all time!

That said, I find it maddening when developers use all of the buttons available in a sloppy, unnecessary manner. There is no excuse. The buttons are there for the games that actually need them. NOT so you can use them all "just because."

  10. The triggers are awful on the GC controler. they aren't so much triggers but push buttons with a very deep range.

Plus the thing is to damn small for my hands...
